Today we went to the top of the Pearl TV tower. It is 486 meters high. The weather was so foggy and rainy the last two days that we had to put it off until today. We really didn’t hold out much hope that we would see much because it was pretty rainy today also. We were quite surprised to find a very impressive view. It is amazingly high. The limited view was still quite impressive. However the most impressive part of the day may have been the surreal visit of the Goodyear blimp. That’s right. The Goodyear blimp. We were up in the tower and looked down to see our very own Goodyear blimp…or maybe it is theirs, because it says Goodyear on one side in English and the other side in Chinese. Anyway, the rules for flying it must be different in China. This guy was diving and climbing like you wouldn’t believe. He was down at street level one minute and up by the tower the next. One time on the Bund it looked like he was going to crash into the crowd. It was a very strange sight.
After going to the TV tower we went to a Chinese history museum and back to Nanjing Road. At the museum there were displays of opium houses, farming, GM Shanghai and much more. It was well done and very interesting. Children in China go to school on Sunday also and there was a group of children on a field trip while we were there. We went to the newer part of Nanjing Road and then headed back one last time to the Yu Garden shopping area to buy an oil painting that we had seen on Friday.
Tomorrow morning we take the bullet train to Nanjing, it will be a 2 hour and 45 minute ride. We will meet Yu Ming Jian at 2:00 PM (China time). He will soon legally be Sawyer Andrew Duke.
