After three days in our hotel we had time to venture out further and found that we are two blocks from the pearl market. That is where Eliot found out he could be the mayor of Guangzhou. He was quite the hit in 2006 with his spiky blond hair. The girls were all over him. We found the exact spot where a little girl walked around him in a circle, like he was a toy.

We had no idea that there were so many colors of pearls. There were purple, pink, yellow, dark brown, very dark black and shades in between.

Mike is on his third attempt to locate a professional Chinese baseball team. He found the Shanghai Eagles stadium, but no Eagles. The Jiangsu Hopestars don’t play in Nanjing, they play in Wuxi. So now his only hope is the Guangdong Leopards. The season is over, but he is on a mission to get a Chinese baseball jersey. The count is 0 and 2 and it isn’t looking good. At least we know that the Leopards play in Guangzhou, so maybe there is hope.
